The Position Control Unit (PCU) Readout can be used for all ProScale Absolute measuring systems.  The display operates at 18-24VDC. It is designed to provide a digital readout of position, AND to act as a position controller.

Features:

The PCU is designed to operate with either a motor contactor or an AC inverter to position a mechanical load to an approximate location.

The simplified operation of the system is outlined as follows:

1. The user enters a target position into the controller and presses the GO button.

2. The controller determines the necessary direction of travel based on the current position and activates the Motor ON output.

3. The load travels towards the target position, sampling its position 10 times per second.

4. When the load reaches a programmed boundary outside the destination, the Motor ON output is deactivated and the load is allowed to coast into position.  As long as the mass of the load and the coefficient of friction remain approximately constant, the load will stop in the correct final position.

Additionally, the PCU has an analog output. A common use of this output is for controlling the feed rate on a conveyor-ized machine.

A typical application for the PCU Readout is for wide belt industrial sanders.  The analog output can be used as the control voltage for a variable frequency AC inverter.  This will allow direct control of the input conveyor feed rate as a function of feet/minute or meters/minute based on the programmed minimum and maximum rates.
