Accurate Technology Improves ProStand

Asheville, NC — Accurate Technology has announced improvements to its ProStand system for measuring, calibrating and cataloging woodworking machinery cutterheads.

The ProStand system is a two-axis cutterhead set-up stand that measures cutterhead Radius and Axial position of knife features using non-contact digital measurement technology.

The updated version uses an external high resolution LCD flat panel display and a high quality customized lens to offer better image quality, a more defined focal depth, and higher magnification (increased to just over 20X). Also updated is the crosshair used to find and locate features for measurement; the new crosshair image is dashed and uses much thinner line widths to optimize accuracy and lessen ambiguity.

A sliding carriage has also been added.  The sliding carriage can accommodate cutters as large as 15 x 15 inches, up to 400 pounds.  Operators can now safely load large cutters (via an overhead lift system if desired), then push the sliding carriage into place under the camera and lens for taking measurements.

The digital readout has also been updated.  The RS232 communication can be controlled to transmit Axial position, Radial position, or both simultaneously.  A Tool Measurement function has also been added, whereby an operator can locate and "latch" an Axial position, then locate and "latch" a radial position.  This allows for the critical Axial and Radial measurement to be printed to the optional label printer, then applied directly to the cutter.

ProTool, the optional software for ProStand, records tooling information such as measurements, where and when tooling was purchased, what machine(s) it has been run on, the last time it was sharpened (how the tool's measurements changed) and many other pertinent details for each tool.  Bitmap images of the specified tools can be used to visually display specific measurement and reference points during the calibration and measurement process.  This tooling information can easily be recalled for production analysis, wear analysis, and tracking by vendor and shop location.

Founded in 1989, Accurate Technology, Inc. supplies affordable linear digital measuring systems to the woodworking, plastics and fabricating industries throughout the world.  For more information, contact Accurate Technology or visit the company web site at www.proscale.com.
